The "Four Presidents": This bond is informally called the "Four Presidents Bond" because it was recognized and indirectly supported by four consecutive Mexican presidents associated with the Mexican Republic’s defense against imperial rule and foreign influence: Benito Juárez, Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada, Porfirio Díaz, and Manuel González. These leaders, despite their varying policies, upheld the legitimacy of the republic and indirectly acknowledged the debt issued under Juárez.
