Offered here is an original “Schatzanweisung des Deutschen Reichs” treasury bond certificate for 1,000 Reichsmarks, issued by the Reich Debt Administration in Berlin on August 3, 1936.
This example belongs to the desirable “1936 Zweite Folge” (“Second Issue 1936”) series and carries a 4½% annual interest rate. The certificate displays an elaborate engraved pink-and-black border, Gothic German lettering, original signatures, and the official Reich seal.
The bond is numbered and marked with the series letter “D.” The certificate references the original interest coupon sheet (“Beigefügt sind die Zinsscheine Nr. 1 bis 24”)
The certificate provided for semiannual interest payments beginning July 1, 1936, and was redeemable by drawing between 1943 and 1948.
